Cyclothon Held to Spread Anti-tobacco Awareness in Bengaluru

The Vyakti Vikas Kendra Living Well Program Division, in partnership with BBMP and Anti-Tobacco Cell organised a two day event on the 31st of May and the 1st of June, to raise awareness on the health risks associated with tobacco use.

Five exhibitions at different shopping malls across Bengaluru  showcased the ill-effects of tobacco abuse, and ‘Cyclothon ’, a rally on bicycles was  held with the participation of hundreds of cycling enthusiasts,to promote a healthy lifestyle.

At Cubbon Park next to K.S.L.T.A.Stadium, Smt. Tara Anooradha Member of Legislative Council and Cine Artist; Dr. Satish Chandra Director/Vice-Chancellor NIMHANS Bengaluru; Cmdr. Sri. Sarvottam Rao Chairman Vyakti Vikas Kendra Bengaluru; Ms.Shruthi Hariharan Cine Artist; Ms. Preethi Cine Artist; Ms. Neetu Shetty Cine Artist  attended the Cyclathon event.

Cmdr.  Rao said,"Smoking used to be a style statement earlier, but I lost some of my dear friends and senior colleagues due to smoking as they had succumbed to cancer. Smoking and tobacco in any form is not a style statement, its a death statement."
