CHENNAI: It was an elevated state where soul, mind and body were in complete sync with each other. A transition from sound to silence, from activity to rest was what was experienced by those who participated in the Art of Living group meditation here on Sunday at the Music Academy.

To mark the birthday of Art of Living founder His Holiness Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, to inspire people to meditate and make it a part of their everyday life, on Sunday, a nationwide ‘Meditate India’ initiative was started by Art of Living

People from all walks of life came together at 1,700 centres across India to share a few moments of silence through guided meditation. In Chennai the’ Meditate India’ campaign was launched by N P Krishnan, a faculty member at Art of Living. He requested people to organise groups in their respective schools, colleges, offices and housing communities which will further be guided by the Art of Living faculty.

The evening at the Music Academy kicked off with devotional soul-stirring carnatic recitals by N Vijay Siva, a renowned vocalist.

Akhila Srinivasan, President, Tamil Nadu Apex Body of the Art of Living and MD, Shriram Life Insurance said, “This initiative will educate people about meditation. It will give them a fair idea about how meditation should be done and what are its benefits.”
