Bangalore’s Vidyaranyapura Area Celebrates Plastic Free Day

Inspired by Param Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji, the Art of Living has been working towards saving the planet through its various initiatives, Mission green Earth Stand Up Take Action 2008 (10.6 million people, planted more than 9.6 million trees in 2008), Meri Dilli Meri Yamuna ( the project aimed to mobilize the citizens of Delhi to clean the river), Tree Plantation Drives, Cleanliness Campaigns, Chemical Free Framing, etc.

A group of enthused volunteers of Vidyaranyapura area of Bangalore started a plastic free drive on September 26, 2010. In continuation, they celebrated Plastic free day on October 10, 2010. The volunteers and students of the Sr Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir (SSRVM) distributed paper bags and eco-friendly bags to the shopkeepers and residents of the area and requested them not to use plastic. They also spread awareness on the harms of the usage of plastic.
