The Art of Living with
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

15th of Dec 2016

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the renowned Indian spiritual master who is followed by millions of people worldwide, is the founder of the Art of Living movement which aims to help people connect with their spiritual self and live life holistically. Here are some tenets which will help you find answers in your journey of self-discovery and self-fulfilment.

When your mind is muddled, just give it some time and it will settle, it will become clear: When worries and troubles seem to override you and you can’t find a way out of them, just be calm and patient. Time heals all wounds and gives you clarity and purpose. Believe in the power of time and let it work wonders in your life.

Fear and guilt are two things which will never allow you to go deep into yourself: Our life is meant to be filled with happiness and joy. Anything that takes it away from us must be eliminated. Fears about our past, future, career, relationships, or anything else is unnecessary and must be nipped at the bud itself. Ditto for guilt. Whatever has happened has already happened. Slathering yourself with layers of guilt will never allow you to escape from your past and will bury your true inner beauty and impede your journey to the depths of your soul.

As long as you are in the run for more, you are not going to settle. Unless you settle, there is neither peace nor grace: Gratitude is a powerful feeling which can attract abundance and peace in our life. Being grateful for even the smallest of things we have in our life helps us realise their intrinsic value and gives us contentment and peace. In such a state, grace will flow from us naturally and we will always remain happy and have loads to thank for.

When you are on the spiritual path, when your heart is clean and when you are meditating, there is no way that you will fail, or go down: Everyone desires success. But how do we achieve it? Many successful personalities, including celebrities, top businessmen and of course spiritual gurus have one thing in common – they meditate and immerse themselves in the journey of soul-searching. In fact, all their great work is an expression of their inner joy and love for the Universe. That is how they remain calm even when they are surrounded by negative influences and forces which are out to pull them down. Meditation and purity of heart can help you overcome the greatest of obstacles and remove even mountains from your path.

Do your job sincerely and attend to all your duties and responsibilities wholeheartedly. Leave the rest to God with faith: Just as Lord Krishna told Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar too advises us to do our work wholeheartedly, without thinking about its results. What matters most is the work at hand and not its fruits. If we have fulfilled our duties and responsibilities with devotion and sincerity, God will automatically reward us for it in some way or the other.
