India

The leading exponent of the classical dance form of Kathak in India, Pandit Birju Maharaj is conducting a dance, yoga & meditation workshop, 'Nritya Sadhana' at the Art of Living International Center. The four day workshop began on the 21st of November, 2015.

Beginning with a rejuvenating early morning yoga and meditation session, participants learn Kathak from Birju Maharaj and Saswati Sen for around 5 hours each day. This is followed by an 'Orriyaz', time for self-practice, interspersed with discussions of knowledge and satsang.

Dance and yoga enthusiasts, including students, IT professionals and other practitioners and teachers of dance took the opportunity to learn from the Maestro.

Vibha Raamaswamy, a professional Kathak dancer and teacher from Bangalore said that the workshop enhanced her skills as a dance teacher. "Learning yoga and meditation has made it easier to practice dance for 6 to 8 hours every day", she added.

Participants between the ages of 13 to 72 from ten states of India are attending the workshop.
