Hygiene Projects

Overview

Achieving and maintaining good health is challenging where there are inadequate sanitatory practices and a lack of clean drinking water facilities. 5H volunteers help create vital awareness about hygiene through various awareness programs. They help in:

finding and providing clean drinking water
developing clean surroundings and a garbage disposal system
organizing camps on personal hygiene
creating drainage and sanitation awareness

The 5H volunteers inspire participants of the program to take responsibility for their surroundings by initiating clean-up drives, and initiating other projects as per the need of the region.

There has not been a single instance of suicide in the 509 villages we have worked in so far. There are about 1, 000 villages in the Amravati region of Vidarbha. We are training more youth leaders to reach out to all the villages.
