Sri Sri Center for Media Studies gets a new campus

The new campus of Sri Sri Center for Media Studies (SSCMS), Bangalore on Kanakapura Road was inaugurated by The Art of Living founder, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, today. Padma Vibhushan Sri M.N. Venkatachaliah, Former Chief Justice of India and former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission was the Chief Guest at the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion and emphasizing the importance of fair and free media Gurudev said, "Fair press can play a role to check fanaticism of any kind. Press should be free thinkers and not aligned with political parties or ideologies." The audience were given an inspirational talk by Sri. M.N Venkatachaliah in which he said, "Press is the most vital stimulant for a vibrant democracy. In history journalists have always played a role in fighting against injustice."

The event was attended by other dignitaries including Ms. Vani Murthy, Social Activist, Mr. Prakash Belawadi, Filmmaker, Ms. Mamta, Department of Information, Karnataka Government, singer Ajay Warrier and Kannada author Anusuya Devi.

SSCMS offers one-year Post Graduate Diploma course in Print, Broadcast, and New Media Journalism. The institute believes in the new age system of imparting education that sans text books and provides hands on training through assignments to the students. The institute has real time journalists as faculties and offers guest lectures by industry experts.
