Call for a violence-free, prejudice-free society
8th Aug 2011, , Norway

“Perception has to be multi-directional. A one-sided vision will not help. So, from various angles, when we see a situation, we become richer in our understanding. Can we just turn to the person next to us and say, “I belong to you?” You really exchanged those words from the heart? Or was it just from your lips? I just want you to reflect on that,” said Sri Sri as he addressed an open meeting at the Oslo Congress Center, with the theme Call for a violence-free, prejudice-free society.  “When these words come to you from someone very dear to you, it carries certain energy, love, vibrations...we have all noticed this and this is what is needed today. We need to create a field of love, field of energy that can uplift humanity."

"We don’t need to wait for a disaster to happen. When a disaster happens, this automatically happens. After the disaster here, everybody was on the streets, everyone walked with a rose, expressed their true feelings, not courtesy, but true feelings that came out...a genuine sympathy and genuine sense of sharing,” explained Sri Sri as he made the audience, shaken by the recent events, aware of the power of their own sense of caring and belongingness.

The shooting incident, reportedly triggered by a lack of multi-religious acceptance, destroyed the lives of over 91 innocent people. “It is time to encourage our youth to see beyond their identity of Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and realize that you are a beautiful, beautiful human being. This awareness we need to bring to our youth," emphasized Sri Sri, pointing out the importance of a multi-cultural, multi-religious education as the solution to such disasters.

Fabian Stang, Mayor of Oslo; lawyer and politician Abid Raja and actress, Mia Gunderson also spoke at the meeting. The discussion was followed by a meditation. “The atmosphere in the hall was very special, and the meditation so powerful,” shares Ms.Byrt, attendee.

"We had no idea as to how many people would attend, because the whole event was organized in such a short time (10 days). We had put out 450 chairs, but when people started arriving, we had to put out more chairs, and more chairs, and more and more chairs. Soon the hall was packed with about 700 people!" shares Ingrid, a volunteer, also highlighting the need felt by the people of Oslo for solace and a new direction.

Returning from the event, Sri Sri once again meticulously set out to make sure there was enough food for all the volunteers. “You see, that is the thing: Wherever I go, I make sure that everybody gets food, for both, the body and soul."

Satsang in the Art of Living centre, Oslo
7th Aug 2011, , Norway

"Whenever you are unhappy or miserable, know for sure you need food for the soul. And that is meditation." said Sri Sri during satsang at the Art of Living centre in Oslo.

During the day, Sri Sri very caringly served lunch for everybody. "Miraculously, the food that was prepared to feed about thirty people was enough to feed nearly one hundred! We were offered large portions and even second servings. After having served absolutely everybody, Guruji kept asking if anybody was left out. And sure enough, after a while a hungry Gunnhild showed up, and Guruji popped out of his room to serve her. He remembered everyone, and even put aside plates of food for the missing people." shares Ingrid, volunteer.

Lunch was followed by a visit to the tranquil pine forest high above Oslo, for a few moments spent with nature before proceeding to the satsang.

Sri Sri visits Domkirken, Oslo, Norway
6th Aug 2011, , Norway

Sri Sri arrives in Oslo to meet with the people after the recent tragic events. Soon after his arrival , he guided the local teachers and volunteers through a beautiful meditation. He also introduced to them the possibilities of healing and building immunity through certain ayurvedic preparations. In the evening he visited the area where the bomb exploded on the 22nd of July. After walking around the whole block, he visited Domkirken, Oslos's main church, where he lit a candle. Honouring every tradition, wherever he goes, has been a consistent feature of Sri Sri's tours.

He spoke on several topics including cultivating humility, Karma and bondage, becoming expressive, using intuition, longing and dispassion. Following is a short excerpt: "You know if you have only longing, the longing can turn into anger or hatred. And if you have only dispassion, the dispassion will become so dull and boring and can even get into depression.
