Fitness and discipline seem to be a part of actress Dia Mirza’s health regime

A charming smile, childlike giggles, delicate looks. This pretty much defines actor Dia Mirza. Though she has been around in Bollywood for some time now, Dia no way looks a day older than she arrived in the tinsel town from Hyderabad. Today, besides doing films, this former Miss Asia-Pacific (2000) is also actively involved in a slew of social issues that need attention like animal rights (through PETA), HIV AIDS, etc.

Recently in New Delhi at the GeoSpa AsiaSpa India Awards 2012, this effervescent actor won the award for Eco Crusader of the year. And flashing her charming smile, she spoke about the need for animal care and also about her tiger clubs. She also took out time on the sidelines of it to talk about the secret behind her charming self and a toned body. Dia said, “Fitness comes with discipline, grace is something one is born with and beauty is a God’s gift.”

As a part of her fitness discipline, the 31-year-old does regular pranayam and kriya. “I do the Sudarshan Kriya. I’m also a practitioner for the Art of Living.” She also does gym workouts “which are an integral part of the schedule.”

At a time when almost every newcomer tries to achieve the ideal body, at times through supplements, cosmetic surgery, etc., Dia says she has not resorted to any of the artificial means to be what she is. “I’ve never subscribed to supplements of any kind or used them myself. Also, I’ve never done any kind of corrective surgery on myself.”

According to Dia, as an individual she has always felt extremely blessed in life and never wanted anything different than how life is today. She also said, “It is extremely important for a person to remain happy in order to be fit.” For someone with a smile as warm as Dia's, one can surely see she practices it herself.

With temperatures soaring across the country, the former beauty queen has a piece of advice for people, “Keep a cool head, tempers flare in the heat, stay calm, breathe and drink lots of fluids.”
