Children undertake 'Clean Dharavi drive'

2nd of Oct 2012

MUMBAI: Children in the Art of Living's school Sri Sri RaviShankar Vidya Mandir, Dharavi were very deeply pained by the lack of proper hygiene and cleanliness in the community. The ill-effects of unhygienic surroundings on both physical and mental development of children are very obvious. So, they very rightly took the opportunity of Gandhi Jayanti to show their responsibility towards the community that they live in. With the support of teachers they and other volunteers, and other community groups have planned to organize a Clean Dharavi Drive. This is month long of activities aiming at taking all necessary steps to raise the awareness in the community and make sure that the surroundings are very clean.

This drive began on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti with a Peace-Walk with the motto Walk to be the Change, remembering Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.

After the walk, the drive continues bringing awareness putting up banners and posters, made by children all around Dharavi, requesting the public to be more responsible socially.
