United We March - State Summits 2013

Volunteer for Better India (VBI), an Art of Living initiative, is the beginning of a realization deep within all of us that our nation and its pride are of utmost importance to each one of its citizens. VBI is symbolized by its strength which portrays India as a nation stimulated by unparalleled growth driven by young and fresh ideas and spearheading a revolution that is going to set examples for generations to come. It offers a platform to every young Indian to channelize talents, voice opinions and emerge as a leader and, moreover, a responsible citizen.

VBI embraces the overarching spirit of Human Values, to address issues, related to Health and Development as HIV and AIDS, Sexual - Reproductive Health and Rights, Declining Child Sex Ratio, Drugs & Alcohol, Corruption, Millennium Development Goals, Safety for Girls and Entrepreneurial Opportunities.

Under the specific technical collaboration of The Art of Living with expert agencies such as United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), HEROES Project, International Network of Religious Leaders Living with HIV & AIDS (INERELA+), Indian Interfaith Coalition on HIV & AIDS (IICA), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC, AIIMS), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Millennium Campaign (UNMC), The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Global Compact Network India (UNGCNI) & DRISHTEE, on the issues of HIV and AIDS, the Declining Child Sex-Ratio, Sexual - Reproductive Health and Rights, Drugs and Alcohol, Corruption, Millennium Development Goals, Safety for Girls and Entrepreneurial Opportunities, two events have been organized:

A United We March ~ A Punjab State Youth Summit 2013

Hosted by and in partnership with Punjab University and Department of Tourism (Punjab Govt.), United We March ~ A Punjab State Youth Summit 2013 will be held on July 20th, 2013, at Punjab University, Chandigarh.

The half day Summit is envisaged to be attended by over 1200 delegates, encompassing college students between ages 18 to 25 years from elite and peripheral institutions across the country, youth celebrities, academicians (deans and principals) and representatives from youth NGOs/societal leaders etc.

The Summit will start with a joint plenary session followed by seven parallel Breakaway Workshops. The technical know-how will be provided by various expert partner agencies. The aim is to equip the future volunteers with necessary knowledge so that they can impact and bring about a change in society and contribute towards the nation's progress.

Each Breakaway Workshop will have approximately 250+participants. The Breakaway Workshops will end with a combined valedictory session. Certificates of Participation will be extended to the participants (individual as well as representing the institution), which will be of symbolic support as they embark on their careers.

A Mass Media Grand Finale

Hosted by and in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Punjab government, a mass media grand finale event will be held on July 20th, 7:00-9:00 pm at Chappar Chiri War Memorial, Mohali. The venue is symbolic of great patriotism and under the vision and guidance of H. H. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the event aims to bring 2000 volunteers pledging to inspire an army of 20 lac people to join hands and Volunteer for a Better India.

The Grand Finale will feature a unique "Voices on Issues" by our Partner Organizations to promote engagement of the masses on the selected social issues and will serve to energize VBI with people pledging their time and commitment to the cause of nation building.

The highlight of the event will be an issue based cultural program by the youth from Punjab University & the event will also showcase the rich culture and heritage of Punjab.

Participation to the United We March ~ A Punjab State Youth Summit is strictly through Registration only.
