H.H Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, was conferred with the 2009 Culture in Balance Award in Dresden, Germany in recognition of his outstanding contribution to all the facets of culture, and for his commitment to global cultural balance.
Prof. Gesine Schwan, candidate for the 2009 German presidential elections praised Ravi Shankar for his peace efforts, global service projects, and valuable counsel on the various social and political issues facing the world.
'I share this award with all those people who stand for a violence-free and stress-free society. This award is not for a person or personality, but for a principle that stands for the ideal of a 'one world family' and cultural plurality,'
HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was conferred the Order of the Pole Star, the top civilian, and military honor of Mongolia in recognition of the contribution the Art of Living has made to the nation. The award was conferred by the President of Mongolia, Nambaryn Enkhbayar in Ulan Bator at a reception held in the Presidential Palace on August 24, 2006. Receiving the award, HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said, “It (the award) is an honor not to a person but to the ancient philosophy, and spiritual tradition of India.”
HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s work in Mongolia is widely appreciated by people from all sections of society. In February 2006, HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was conferred the Mongolian Prime Minister’s Award at the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Art of Living held in Bangalore.
The Inter Faith Harmony Foundation of India, a group floated by Indian Muslims, honored HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with the prestigious Dara Shikoh National Award for Harmony for 2005 in August that year. Prominent philosopher, and statesman Dr Karan Singh presented the award to HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in a function held in New Delhi.
According to Khwaja Dr Iftikar Ahmed, Founding President, the award was presented to HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar “for the remarkable work done by him in promoting peace, interfaith dialogue, and conflict resolution”. Accepting the honor, HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar emphasized the need for awakening the fundamental unity of the human family.
HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar received the National Veterans Foundation Award in recognition of his outstanding service to returning veterans, and their families. Floyd ‘Shad’ Meshad, President, and Founder of the National Veterans Foundation, presented the award during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Art of Living in Washington DC in March 2007. HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was honored for his programs for veterans, and their families who suffer from a multitude of psychological, and emotional problems.The Art of Living initiated a series of ‘The Project Welcome Home Troops’ programs to help veterans and their families over the trauma of wars.
In his speech at the award ceremony, Mr Meshad said, “The program that I recently completed along with key staff members of the National Veterans’ Foundation showed me the impact that the breathing techniques can have in healing traumatic emotional experiences. Anything we can do to bring our troops peace of mind, and let them come back, and reintegrate into society, is worth its weight in gold.”
HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was presented ‘The Global Humanitarian Award’ by the Governor of the State of Illinois, Rob Blagojevich on May 14, 2005. The award was conferred on HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for exemplifying the highest ideals of humanitarian service, for his steadfast devotion to inspiring healthy living, and fostering universal harmony.
HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was conferred the prestigious Sant Shri Dnyaneshwara World Peace Prize 2006 in recognition of his contribution in spreading the culture of peace in the world. The award is instituted by the World Peace Centre (Alandi), India and Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune, India.
The world has revered the wisdom, and vision of His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar by venerating him with numerous awards, and honors. His vision of a violence-free, stress-free society through the reawakening of human values has been recognized, and appreciated the world over. Over the years, HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been bestowed with several national, and international awards, including the top state honors, and awards instituted by governments, and reputed organizations.
HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been honored for his contribution to humanity in the fields of conflict resolution, peace keeping, and for promoting human values. Each of the honors is an endorsement ,and appreciation of the philosophy of peace, and representation of his vision for a “One World Family”.
