Education 교육 혁명무료 학교 교육 프로그램Ved Vignan Maha Vidhya Peeth(VVMVP) 는 스리 스리 라비 상카께서 1981년에 처음으로 설립한 농촌학교입니다. 스리 스리는 아트 오브 리빙 센터 근처의 먼지로 뒤덮인 곳에서 놀고 있는 아이들을 보고 그들에게 교육의 기회가 전혀 없음을 알고 그들을 돕고자 결심을 하게 되었습니다. 지역 봉사자들이 아이들에게 위생에 대한 기초 수업과 교육적인 게임들과 점심에는 건강한 음식을 주기 위해 배정이 되었습니다. 이러한 교육은 아이들과 부모들의 커다란 관심을 끌었고 현재까지 계속되고 있습니다. 이러한 교육체계가 발전되면서 정규 학교 교육 체계로 갖추어지게 되었고 학생과 교사 수가 증가하게 되었습니다. 오늘날에는 인도의 농촌과 부족 중심 지역에 교육 혁명을 일으키고 있는 175개의 유사한 무료 학교의 모델이 되었습니다. 1세대 학생들거의 95%의 학생들이 1세대이며 지역 시험에서 100%의 성공율을 달성하였습니다. “이러한 나이대의 나의 딸은 농장에서 일하였을 것입니다. 우리는 우리 딸이 교육을 받을 것이라고는 꿈도 꾸지 못하였는데 그녀가 학교를 다니고 있는 것을 보면 정말 행복합니다.”- Mrs. Savitri 학부모 스트레스가 없는 학교학생들에게는 교복과 신발, 책, 필기구, 버스 등하교가 제공되며 학교다니는 것을 저해하는 어떠한 요소로도 방해받지 않도록 충분한 영양을 갖춘 점심식사가 제공됩니다. 요가, 명상, 스포츠와 춤, 음악, 그림 그리기와 같은 창조적인 활동들이 몸과 마음의 건강을 추구하는 학교 교육과정의 주를 이룹니다. 어린이를 위한 아트 오브 리빙 코스인 ART Excel 코스가 학생들에게 정기적으로 제공되며, 학생들이 집에서의 부정적인 영향을 잘 다룰 수 있도록 도움을 줍니다. 의료 치료소와 이동 치료소가 또한 제공됩니다. 학생들이 정치 시스템에 관심을 기울이고 그들내에서 리더쉽 기술을 심어주기 위해 학교는 자체 위원회를 두어 학교 학생들이 위원들을 스스로 선출하도록 합니다. 이러한 체계를 통하여 학생들은 실용적인 방법으로 민주주의 체계의 중요성을 배우도록 합니다. 학생위원회는 하급 반에 대한 책임을 지며 학교 운영에 도움을 줍니다.
커뮤니티 구성여학생에 대한 교육과 여성의 역량강화에 중점을 두고 상급 학생들은 직업과 관련된 기술인 양재, 컴퓨터 기술 및 목공기술을 배우며 다음 단계의 교육을 계속하도록 장려합니다. 졸업한 학생과 학교와의 관계를 계속 유지하기 위하여 동창회가 최근 조직되었습니다. 졸업생들은 재학생들에게 그들의 경험을 공유하고 다음 단계의 교육과 목표를 이루도록 학생들의 격려합니다. 동창회에서는 부모와 학생들과 정기적인 미팅을 가지면서 교육의 중요성을 환기시키고 있습니다.

Free SchoolsThe Art of Living’s free schools are located in various rural, tribal and slum areas across India. Each school has its own set of challenges based on the geographical and cultural set-up of the land and its people. Some areas are extremely remote, surrounded by forests and no roads or electricity. In some of the places, the children are more familiar with guns than soap! The need to impress upon them that education and schooling is the means towards a better future is imperative. In rural areas which are more accessible, parents prefer to send their children as domestic helpers or to the farms to earn a few rupees, rather than give them with an education. This is especially true for young girls.. It is common practice in villages that when a girl turns 14 she gets married, and by age 20 has children. She has no education behind her, no money, no self-confidence and no self-esteem. Slums have their own set of challenges. Located in the hearts of cities, the disparity between the middle-class urban population and slum dwellers makes a constant impression on young minds. Lack of availability of free education forces them to look for other means to earn a quick buck. Drugs, violence, alcohol and tobacco are easier to come by than books. This shows how desperately education is needed in these areas, to ensure the future of these children and of the wider community. The Art of Living volunteers, inspired by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar have laid the foundation and created the infrastructure to facilitate this vision of free education to children in these areas. Starting from awareness campaigns to providing free transportation, uniforms, mid-day meals, books and accessories, to building free schools in the remotest of areas. It's no wonder that Rahul used to come to school with unkempt clothes and had an attention deficit disorder. We nurtured him all the same. In fact, when it came to exam time, a volunteer sat with him through the test time and prodded him to reveal the answers we knew he knew. He performed brilliantly and Encouraged. Rahul now takes far more responsibility for himself than ever before. He takes pride in coming to school. His mother says he wakes up on his own and is ready for school at 5am! When she visits school her eyes well up with tears of gratitude.

With having to live in 10 X 12 feet rooms with no source of income, we don’t have the means to educate our children. We feel bad that their future is permanently frozen in the refugee camps, but we are helpless.Sri Sri has come to our help by taking the responsibility of 87 children. I have been the principal of this school since 2007. Sri Sri Vidya Mandir (SSVM) was started on 26th July 2007. The school started with 177 students and increased to 198 students within the first year. At the beginning the classes were up to 6th standard only but now it has grown to standard 8.In 2007 there were only 11 teachers and now we have 17 teachers. The parents of the students studying here are illiterate and financially poor. This year we have given students free books, as well as provided them with free afternoon meals.We are giving more importance to discipline than studies; we teach them how to keep their environment clean. We tell them that we must throw all the garbage in the dustbins. We also conduct yoga and meditation classes twice a week. I want to develop the school in such a way that it will be able to give a life equivalent to the life of students in cities.

I have been teaching here for the past one and a half years. I teach mathematics from standard 5 to standard 8. When the students came here to study, they didn’t even know the basics of addition or subtraction. They were not well disciplined or well mannered, but now we have inculcated a lot of changes. We have taught them good manners and good habits like wearing clean, ironed clothes. Now there is a visible difference between the old students and the new comers. We have also taught them many good habits like keeping their shoes in order outside their classrooms, forming a line before going anywhere, wishing their elders and teachers, excusing themselves before going to drink water going to the toilet. I think this is the difference between our school and the other schools in this locality.

SSVM was an eye opener for me. First year, there were only four students from Poombukar. After sending them to that school I found a profound change in the behavior of my children. Even I learnt discipline from them and I am very happy to see that. Disciplines like brushing and taking bath everyday were insisted in the school by the teachers.Seeing all these changes in my children, others also started to send their children to SSVM now there are 120 students studying from Poombukar this year. My children were given scholarship of Rs.2000 the previous year. It is very helpful to us. I did the basic course in Poombukar and I also did the advance course in Thanjavur.

I see a lot of difference between students from this school and from other schools. At our school students are disciplined and well mannered compared to other schools.
