Business Ethics for a Prosperous Nepal

Business Ethics for a Prosperous Nepal
January 2014, Kathmandu, Nepal
We are delighted to invite you to the 1st National Symposium of the World Forum for Ethics in Business (WFEB) in Nepal which will take place at Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza, Kathmandu Nepal on January 17-18, 2014. The theme of the Conference, “Business Ethics for a Prosperous Nepal” stems from the need to reconsider business ethics styles and strategies in the face of the on going social and economic challenges in Nepal.. In particular, the Conference will examine ethical practices that are sustainable and ensure profitability for businesses. The key priority areas that we will target in the conference are: Role of Business; Role of Government/Judiciary; and Youth Forum. The conference will provide a platform for leading minds to share their experiences on the value of an ethics based approach to deal with today’s challenges. In these most challenging times, is the focus on human values and ethics an indispensable key to overcoming the current crises and avoiding future crises? What is the leadership style that can pave the way for a sustainable future? In addition, the conference would help to establish an advocacy group to promote ethics in business both in short term and long term perspective, for the benefit of the nation.
The International WFEB Conference, organized by the World Forum for Ethics in Business, in which the World Bank Institute and the International Association for Human Values are partnering organisations, is an annual event which brings together prominent leaders from business, politics, academia, youth, civil society and faith-based organizations to dialogue on the pressing need to strengthen human values and ethics in business and in leadership. We would like to request you to have your institution participate in this leadership conference.
The conference is followed by a Transformational Leadership for Excellence (TLEX) Training from 18 – 19 January 2014.
Prior to the Symposium, from 15 – 16 January, a National Youth Forum on Ethics in Business with a holistic ethical leadership training will take place for a group of 30 youth from diverse backgrounds. These youth have been working for the betterment of society and for a prosperous Nepal. The youth forum team will make a presentation on the 17th during the conference.
