Sri Sri pays homage to Pashupatinath

His Holiness Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Wednesday morning visited Pashupatinath temple and offered worship there.

Gurudev was accompanied by the teachers and officials of the Art of Living. He was welcomed by the officials of the Pashupatinath Area Development Trust.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, Gurudev addressed a gathering of politicians and professionals here.

Gurudev said it is time to deliver the people selflessly with a sense of sacrifice for their long-term benefit.

He said that political leaders of Nepal should make some sacrifice to build an economically, culturally and socially happy Nepal.

Stating that that Nepal is now passing through the most critical time in its history, Gurudev said, “Next generation people will not forgive us if we do not keep social and cultural value intact by bringing peace and prosperity. “

“Peace and prosperity move together,” he said adding that spirituality brings compassion and instill a feeling of belongingness.

Addressing the programmed entitled as Spirituality and Socio-Political Transformation Prosperity, Gurudev said Nepal possesses the quality of becoming the happiest country of the world.

Comparing Nepal with Switzerland and giving example of the preservation of Balinese culture in Indonesia, he urged the politicians to work for the preservation and promotion of the diverse cultures of Nepal.

“With the disappearance of cultures, the identity of the country itself will be lost,” he said.

“Nepal must maintain its identity,” he said.

Promotion of culture and knowledge by ending superstition is a must and it is the job of the politicians, he said.

“Promote tourism and prepare youths for progress of Nepal,”  he said adding that developing the country is not a single man’s job, entire population should engage in it.

Stating that Nepal is rich in Ayurvedic medicines, Gurudev said she should exploit the herbs available in abundance.  

Likewise, art, tourism and foods could be the sources to transform Nepal into a prosperous nation, he said.

The function was attended by  CPN-UML chairman and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanla, Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel, CPN-Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara among others.

Gurudev also responded to the queries of the participants.

Gurudev meets Prime Minister at Baluwatar

Kathmandu, February 27

His Holiness Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Wednesday called on Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai at the latter’s official Baluwatar residence.

Welcoming the spiritual leader, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai said that he was extremely happy to welcome Gurudev in Nepal.

The Prime Minister said that it was matter of pride for all Nepalese that Gurudev was on a Nepal visit and his visit will be helpful in institutionalize peace in the country.

“I myself and on behalf of the Nepalese people welcome you in Nepal,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister said that Gurudev’s  visit has created a spiritual environment in Nepal.

PM’s spouse Hisila Yami was also present during the meeting.
