    Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was the chief guest at the SR Jindal award ceremony and honored 20 recipients for their exemplary contribution to society. Sri Sri presided over the ceremony, alongwith Justice R C Lahoti, former Chief Justice of India & Chairman of Jury. Noted RTI (Right to Information) activist Subhash Agrawal were among the recipients.

    Inspiring misguided youth to take a new path, Delhi, India, Dec 4

    Sri Sri Ravi Shankar interacted with 750 delinquents who were recovering from substance abuse. The Art of Living and the Delhi Police organized the interaction at the close of a special meditation program for the delinquents. “Through this initiative we foresee reduction in crime and stress,” said Sri Sri while many participants came forward to share their experience of the program. “Earlier I used to smoke charas, but now after the course I feel uncomfortable on even seeing it. The course has not just given me peace mentally but also makes me fit physically,” shared a young boy.

    Sri Sri launches 'Volunteer for a Better India', Delhi, India, Dec. 5

    “Give one hour to the nation. The country has problems because good people are apathetic. Youth must take charge and Volunteer for Better India,” appealed Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, spiritual leader, humanitarian and founder of The Art of Living, at the curtain raiser of a national initiative - Volunteer for a Better India (VFABI).

    The curtain-raiser to VFABI was held on December 5 on the occasion of the United Nations International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development in New Delhi and to also commemorate International Anti Corruption Day which falls on December 9.

    The project in partnership with FPAI, UNODC, UNFPA, UNGCNI, UNICEF, UNMC, Heroes Project, DRISHTEE, INERELA + (Asia Pacific) - IICA, and APAC - VHS aims to create a new wave of volunteerism and advocacy to bring about an on-ground change and combat issues challenging society in a concerted effort towards nation building.

Addressing the gathering, he said; “Innovation is a combination of intellectual sharpness and intuitive ability. Why is there corruption, crime? It is because people have lost the confidence to make money. Money is a means to earn something more than money - ‘happiness’. That which gives you absolute comfort - inner and outer, absolute confidence, creativity and compassion is ‘real happiness’!”

    Sri Sri visited 9 districts in 10 days spanning nearly 1500 kms, and met more than a million people during his Maharashtra tour.

    Speaking at a commemorative function, Sri Sri spoke against the practice of corruption and urged each individual to stand up against corruption. The Mayor felicitated Sri Sri  and appreciated Art of Living’s humanitarian work and Sri Sri’s vision.

    Later in the day, Sri Sri went to Osmanabad where thousands of people joined him in a mahasatsang and meditation. He said: Our country has the solution for suicide - spiritual education! Suicides have stopped in 512 villages in Vidarbha, (where The Art of Living has intervened). Our country has a great heritage but the present state today needs serious thought. We need spiritual awakening in our country.”

    Sri Sri also visited the Tuljabhavani temple and interacted with Art of Living volunteers. Enroute to the city of Pune, Sri Sri addressed 30,000 farmers in Rajewadi and urged them to adopt organic farming practices.

    The overhead mid morning scorching sun did not deter more than 50000 people from occupying the grounds and roof-tops at the Kisanmela in Lonar. “If the village improves, the country will improve, the heart of the country is in the villages,” said Sri Sri. He also urged farmers to make our country free of harmful chemicals and fertilizers and preserve our land, water and environment

    20 November declared as Cleanliness Day in honor of Sri Sri, Selu, Maharashtra

    The local body, the Selu Nagar Parishad commemorated Sri Sri’s visit to Selu by declaring November 20 as Sri Sri Swachata Divas” or cleanliness day.

    Sri Sri spoke on promoting organic farming. He also inspired the gathering to choose non-violence: “Transformation can be brought about peacefully without violence.” He shared the successful transformation of 340 Naxalites who underwent a month-long stress-relief workshop at the Art of Living International Center. “(After it) They vowed never to commit violence,” shared Sri Sri
