Delinquents get tips from spiritual guru

December 04, 2012

New Delhi, Dec 4 (IANS) Spiritual guru Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Tuesday interacted with over 750 drug and alcohol addicts and delinquents here and offered them tips to overcome challenges.

The meeting was organised by The Art of Living Foundation andDelhi Police after a four-day "Sudarshan Kriya" - meditation programme - for offenders.

One of the 756 participants said: "Earlier I used to smoke charas, but now after the course I feel uncomfortable on even seeing it. The course has not just given me peace mentally but also makes me fit physically."

"Since crime and corruption is a major issue in the country we came up with this initiative. Through this initiative we foresee reduction in crime and stress," said the spiritual guru.

"In Punjab, we had a similar course for about 35,000 drug addicts," he said.

Delinquents who were addicted to drugs or alcohol narrated how they have been rehabilitated with the exercise.
