Sri Sri Ravi Shankar founded The Art of Living in India in 1981. In 1989 “The Art of Living Foundation” was set up in the US. In Germany, the movement was also registered as a non-profit organization (e. V.) in 1989. “Die Kunst des Lebens Deutschland e.V.” is represented by its executive committee. The members of this committee do not receive an allowance, only their expenses are covered. Recently, The International Art of Living Foundation (IAOLF) was founded in Switzerland to act as an umbrella for all national organizations.
