  • Sri Sri Says Racism Solution Rests in Education

    Sun, 10/11/2009, South Korea

In his address in Gangnam, Sri Sri said Korea must look towards its education system in order to institute the multicultural mindsets that will see them overcome racism. Regionalism will be a problem for the country until it starts out on the process of multiculturalism.

"We have to teach people a multicultural and broad mindset, otherwise, you know, a sort of narrow racism and regionalism will be a problem for people," he said.

Sri Sri is in Korea to give a talk at the World Knowledge Forum being held in Seoul this week, where former U.S. President George W. Bush is also a speaker. The Gangnam event was one of two sideline events he is holding.

When asked about the involvement of fellow speaker Bush, Sri Sri said, "Well, that is good. Everybody is welcome in knowledge. It is a lack of knowledge that gives a different color to your personality."

  • All India Ayurvedic Congress Centenary celebrations

    Tue, 10/06/2009, Siri Fort Auditorium,
    , New Delhi, Delhi, India

Sri Sri gave useful insights, stating that health is not mere absence of disease but it also includes welcoming happiness in life. He said, Ayurveda has, not yet reached the level of respect that Chinese medicine has got today.

Each one of us, and the government also has this responsibility to take Ayurveda to that level. We need to pay attention to our environment.

We have to totally integrate Yoga and Spirituality. We have to include these in our lives. Only giving medicines to people won’t work. It is equally important to inspire them to pay attention to rest, yoga, and meditation.

  • World Health Organization (WHO) Conference

    Tue, 10/06/2009, Central, Sri Lanka

Sri Sri addressed the issues surrounding mental and physical health. He spoke about how in the East over 5000 years ago, there was a concept of social well-being, where you are healthy only if you are happy mentally, physically and socially. He also expressed shock that nearly 30% of Europe suffers from depression and Doctors predict the number to raise to 48% in the coming decade.

“Mental well being to me is improved perception, improved observation and improved expression. Like, the body grows from the time you are born to the age 21, 22 and then the body starts deteriorating, our mental age, our mental well being should grow

simultaneously from childhood we need to keep improving our perception, observation and our expression this has no age, usually psychologists say 50 or 40 it stops, at middle age our mental observation, expression starts deteriorating. I say if you are practicing yoga or meditation this doesn't happen. There is no decay of your mental well-being”.
