Art of Living to launch river-cleaning campaign today

19th of Apr 2017

Pune: The Art of Living foundation will kick-start a massive programme in Pune on Wednesday to clean up the seven rivers here — Mula, Mutha, Pavana, Ramnadi, Indrayani, Krishna and Godavari — through its eco-enzyme technology.

The river-cleaning project, 'Jeevan Sarita', is a part of the Art of Living's Sri Sri Rural Development Program (SSRDP) under the stewardship of Rakesh Mali, the foundation's state coordinator.

The Art of Living's founder Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar will launch the campaign at 6.30pm at the grounds opposite Pethkat Samrajya in Kothrud. This programme is open to all. More than 100 NGOs are expected to take part in the campaign.

According to a statement issued by the foundation, eco-enzyme is an organic solution produced by fermentation of jaggery (gud), vegetable or fruit waste, and water, in 1:3:10 proportions.

Earlier in the day, a youth conclave will be organized in the presence of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar, from 8.30am to noon, at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch in Swargate.

The conclave will focus on the role of innovation, intuition and entrepreneurship in creating a life of success, the statement added.

The Maharashtra Rajya Marathi Patrakar Sangh will also present a lifetime achievement award to Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at 4.30pm at the Annabhau Sathe Natyagruha. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis will be the chief guest at the function.
