Bhubaneswar: His Holiness Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji founder of the Art of Living & Union Minister Skill Development,Sri Dharmendra Pradha graced the inauguration of dedicated team of “State Rural Youth Volunteer Meet” in Development of replicable Model Grampanchayats in the State of Odisha &” Yoga Instructor Certificate Distribution” ceremony at Sri Sri University Campus on 14th December 2017.
The Vyaki Vikas Kendra Trust India (VVKI) of the Art of Living organisation has signed MoU with Govt. of Odisha ( Panchayati Raj & SSEPD department) for development of 50 model GPs in 11 Districts of the state to create ripple effect across the State.
It an innovative project, in which imbibing of positive frame of mind of the rural people through continuous practice of time tasted Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, Breathing exercise& Cultural program and connecting such changed constructive attitudinal mind set with the rural development activities implemented by the Central and State Government.
The trained Art of Living Teachers and Yuvacharya’s deployed in the Model GP area are conducting Ethical and Motivational programs and Yoga Classes of the focussed Groups but does not have been equipped with certificates to that effect. The Union Skill Ministry(NSDC) has a certification course, titled Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in Yoga for Beauty & Wellness sector. During October’2017, around 72 VVKI Yoga teachers participated in the stringent screening test held by NSDC experts and 64 came out successful, being awarded with RPL Yoga Certificates in the function held at Sri Sri University (SSU)on 14th December 2017.
Being inspired with the success of 1st batch, now another 250 experienced Yoga practitioners are undergoing identical qualifying test from 11-13th December at SSU.
There are Plethora of rural development schemes such as MGNREGS, ODF, Skill Development of Youth, Organic Agriculture, increasing desi Cattle population, Goat rearing, Poultry & fisheries etc. to leverage rural economy through creation of employment opportunities. Besides, Old age pension to socially vulnerable Group, rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities and caring the Senior Citizen are the targeted segment public services to be made available at the door step of the eligible beneficiaries. But, lack of extensive outreach is the constraint which needs to be strengthened.
In the above context, the VVKI has positioned in the Model GP’s area trained Youth Bharat Nirman Volunteers(BNVs) of the same village @ 1:10 adjacent households to cause human connectivity with micro need based planning and bringing their requirement to the knowledge of concerned GP/Block level Line Department functionaries through effective participation of ‘Gram Sabha’- PRIs.
There are around 1000 BNVs assembled in the ‘State Rural Youth Meet’ to get sensitized on Employable-Placement- linked Skill Development in different trades as per choices under PMKVY & DDU-GKY schemes, so that Youth force of the State will get a direction about generating Employment opportunities.
The VVKI has kept a modest target of Skilling 50,000 youth, 50,000 farmers & 50,000 women of the Model GPs under PMKVY & DDU-GKY in the next Calendar Year.
Taking cue from Odisha experiment of Model GPs, dovetailing spiritual awakening with rural development, the Govt. of Jharkhand has entrusted 60 Model GP development programme to SSU.
