SS Trust, NSDC felicitate Yoga instructors under Skill India

In its commitment to empower unemployed youth by providing subsidised vocational training programmes in two and three tier cities and remote rural areas of the country, Sri Sri Rural Development Programme (SSRDP) Trust with National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) on Monday organised a "Kaushal Vikas Se Rashtra Vikas" event and felicitated 500 Yoga instructors here.The event was graced by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar who felicitated 500 Yoga instructors with the certificates in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) of Yoga under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), a flagship scheme of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).The Yoga instructors hailed from 17 different locations of five states of India. 

Around 50 candidates from Jammu and Kashmir also participated and shared their experience.BJP MP Maheish Girri, Green Job Sector Skill Council CEO Praveen Saxena, Gaurav Kapoor - Senior Head Media & CSR at NSDC, Prathiba and Puja from BWSSC, Deepak Sharma, Trustee at SSRDP, RS Rathore, Director at AICTE, Devjyoti Mohanty Director at YLTP and Digvijay Kharote Director at SSRDP were also present at the event.More than 90,000 youths have been trained under the programme in 2017.

Taking cognisance of the interest of entrepreneurship among the youth, an Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) has been started by SSRDP and today 200 participants of EDP were conferred the certificates with linkages to Sri Sri Tattwa (as the retailer) and SSHDP (for microfinance). Besides, SSRDP has planned to train 1.5-lakh Rural Youth Leadership Training Programme (YLTP) teachers in rural areas.On the occasion, Art of Living founder Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar said, "We have been undertaking youth empowerment programme in rural areas for its development and helping youth in becoming self-reliant. We are happy to take PM's Narendra Modi ji's vision further.

"A letter of collaboration was handed over to AICTE for training 30,000 final year students of AICTE approved colleges, belonging to underprivileged economical section.The Art of Living has also signed to launch a competition in association with AICTE in all colleges across India for identifying sustainable innovative social enterprises. AOL will support and finance 50 top ideas to promote "Start Up" India.Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (BWSSC) that has been associated with The Art of Living for more than a year together extended their support in making the curriculum for the defined job roles of Yoga trainers and having a target of assessing and certifying of one lakh Yoga trainers under RPL programme. Moreover, NSDC and SSRDP are undertaking the skill training in the 20 jails across the country.Manish Kumar, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, NSDC said, "India is proud of its ancient cultural heritage - Yoga.

The learnings of Yoga need to be passed on to future generations. Considering the increasing demand for yoga practitioners, NSDC has collaborated with Sri Sri Rural Development Program (SSRDP) to assess and certify trained yoga instructors."120 waste picker trainers under Sector Skill Council for Green Jobs (SSCGJ) of comprehensive Training of Trainers (ToT) programme will be joining the project to train 10,000 waste pickers with the help of municipalities under RPL programme across India and will join SSRDP to promote waste management and bio-farming.UNI SW SNU 1636
