Srinagar, June 11 (Only Kashmir): The founder of the Art of Living Foundation, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar who is currently in Kashmir valley held several separate meetings with socio-political personalities including Governor NN Vohra, Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, head of Peace foundation Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, South Asian Friends head Saleem Reshi and Legislators, Academicians, Journalists and people from different walks.
During a meeting at the Raj Bhavan, the Governor N N Vohra and Gurudev discussed various issues relating to the strengthening of cultural traditions for the advancement of societal harmony all over the country.
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar while speaking at an interaction at Banquet Hall underscored the importance of peace and meditation in daily life. “The service rendered by fellow humans to each other is one of the most sacred service and should be the driving force of every person”, he said. Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh was also present on the occasion.
During Gurudev’s meeting with Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the latter while praising contributions of former in the social field said the ongoing situation in Jammu Kashmir was worrisome and the plans that the government was trying to implement in the state were anti-Kashmir and against the collective interests of the people.
Informing Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar that peaceful activities of the resistance leadership of Kashmir were being curtailed through their arrests and restrictions on their movement and it had become a routine matter. He said this was being done to cow down the people and alter the demographic and disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir.
During his meeting with South Asian Friends head Saleem Reshi, the Gurudev said that sustaining peace is one of the major challenges in today’s life and collective efforts from all the sections of the society are needed in this regard.
Saleem Reshi, while highlighting the role of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shakar in proliferating the message of mutual co-existence and brotherhood throughout the world said that every person should derive motivation from his efforts.
