Building the ashram and building for others With time, more and more people pour in from all over the world, and the old meditation hall becomes much too small to accommodate everyone. Manu Makhija, from Hong Kong, time and again requests Gurudev for permission to build a new meditation hall. Gurudev finally agrees, but says, ‘For every pillar in this hall, we will build a house for the needy.’ He sketched a design, and without the aid of any architect, the building was erected by a fleet of amateurs! It was named ‘Vishalakshi Mantap’ in memory of Gurudev’s departed mother. It was inaugurated in January 2003.
From then on, the organization grows into a “one-world family.”
