Sri Sri Calls For Drug-free Punjab

Chandigarh, June 9

Amid the political slugfest over the film, “Udta Punjab”, Art of Living founder Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar today said the need of the hour was to make Punjab drug-free.

Replying to queries of mediapersons over the “Udta Punjab” controversy, Gurudev, who was in the city for the inaugural ceremony of the Chandigarh Yoga Festival, said he did not want to comment on the movie without watching it.

However, he said it was important to make Punjab drug-free. They were also trying to save the youth of Punjab from drugs, he said. 

“In the present situation in Punjab, everybody should come forward to make Punjab drug-free and to save the Punjab youth,” Gurudev said.

On the plan of the city Congress to oppose the Modi government on International Yoga Day, he said yoga was not limited to one religion, party or country. He appealed to everyone to keep yoga above politics and participate in the event on International Yoga Day in Chandigarh on June 21.

He said yoga was important for a healthy and stress-free life.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Chandigarh on June 21 to attend the second International Yoga Day programme at the Capitol Complex.Earlier, he met the public, bureaucrats, politicians and VIPs at the residence of BJP city unit president Sanjay Tandon in Sector 18.
