Meditation and Mindfulness

Meditation makes you completely relaxed and, at the same time, sharpens your awareness.

Transform pain—with awareness

As our awareness expands, we become more in tune with the sensations occurring in our body and begin to observe how these sensations change. Both intense sensations like pain and intense sensations like pleasure become pleasant.

Love and pain are deeply connected. The symbol of Jesus on the cross shows this: the cross represents pain, while Jesus symbolizes love. One exists with the other. Transforming this pain into bliss, transforming love into bliss—this is what happens through awareness.

Doubts dissolve—with awareness

Have you noticed that doubts are always about something positive?

When you're happy, you ask: “Am I really happy?”
If someone tells you they love you, you ask: “Really?”
We never doubt negative things in life:

You never doubt someone’s anger—or your own.
You never doubt your depression.
If someone says they hate you, you don’t question it.

We take it for granted that everything is fake or deceitful and then try to find someone we can trust. It becomes very hard in the world.

But if you can begin to doubt people’s negativity, you're getting closer to reality.

With this awareness, as you raise the energy level in your body:

You will notice doubts disappear
There is more clarity in your mind
Confusion fades away

Meditation is the expansion of the mind

Meditation is a technique through which the mind expands and relaxes.

Every time you’re happy, you feel something within you expand.
Every time you’re calm, you automatically expand.
It’s worth becoming familiar with this expansion—because then nothing can disturb you or steal your smile.

Otherwise, the smallest things can throw you off balance. Expressing sadness is the contraction of the mind. It’s not worth putting your mind or your life through such suffering, such misery.

Develop intuitive awareness—with meditation

Intuitive awareness—your intuitive quotient—is what truly helps you. Without intuition, you cannot be very successful. Intuition is not just dry thinking. It’s a combination of inner feeling, emotion, and intellect—Antarnath... Antargyan.

If you ask some of the most successful people in society, they’ll say: they acted based on intuition, and that’s what led to their success—not their logical planning or thinking. Of course, logic is necessary, but it’s not enough. You need the support of intuitive awareness—and to smile more!

Increased awareness brings you closer to reality

In his commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says:

“With spiritual growth comes a sharpness of observation. You become completely calm, yet at the same time, you develop acute awareness and the power of intelligence. Your senses become crystal clear. You can see better, think better, hear better. Like a pure crystal, your senses begin to reflect all things as one Divine presence.”
