Anger, Control, and Conflict

Anger and Control

Anger has neither ears nor eyes. It only leads to reaction. And reaction leads to regret. Regret causes disappointment. Disappointment clouds good judgment. Unwise actions awaken more rage, and thus begins a vicious cycle. Only self-knowledge and devotion can free you from this cycle. When anger and revenge are offered into the fire of knowledge, the radiance of the stainless Self begins to shine. This is the true Yagya.

Many people struggle to let go of the need for control, which causes anxiety, restlessness, and strained relationships.
Wake up and see—have you ever truly had control? What is it that you control?
Perhaps a tiny fraction of your waking state!
You have no control while you sleep or dream.
You have no control over the thoughts and emotions that arise within you.
You can choose whether to express them or not, but they arrive without your permission.
Most of your bodily functions are not under your control.
Do you believe you control all the events in your life, in the world, or in the universe? That’s absurd!

When you see things from this perspective, there’s no need to fear losing control—because you never had it in the first place. Whether you're aware of it or not, it is only when you truly relax that you can let go of the sense of control.
Your identification with being “somebody” prevents you from fully surrendering and limits your reach.

Conflict

Unhappy are those who long for the world. Blessed are those who long for the Divine.
Foolish are those who make you long for the world.
Wise are those who make you long for the Divine.

The root of conflict lies in the concept of “mine” and “yours.”
Self-knowledge weakens this sense of limited ownership and dissolves conflict.
When true knowledge dawns within you, no one in the world will feel like a stranger.
At the same time, you will realize how little you actually know—even about the person closest to you.
You cannot fully understand anyone, because life is a mystery!

Wake up and see.
All these distinctions—me, mine, others—simply dissolve.

Today is the birthday of Krishna.
Krishna’s life was full of conflict, and yet he never stopped smiling and dancing.
So dance through the conflicts, and offer something to this planet.
