What is the Ego?

Ego

Ego is an obstacle for a leader, a wise man, a merchant, or a servant, but it is essential for a warrior and a competitor. A warrior accepts challenges and responsibilities and stands by them. Ego makes you sacrifice for a cause. Ego gives strength and courage and brings the bravery to face challenges with firmness and persistence. A strong ego neutralizes depression. Ego is often considered selfish, but it is the greatest motivating force behind creativity and generosity. Ego pushes you to dare to leap into the unknown.

There are three types of ego – sattvic, rajasic, and tamasic.

Tamasic ego is primitive, blind, and self-destructive.
Rajasic ego is self-centered and causes suffering for you and others.
Sattvic ego has creative and protective tendencies.

If you cannot surrender, at least have a sattvic ego, because the sattvic ego is always ready to sacrifice itself.
