Yoga and Singing

Singing has been an integral part of all religions through the ages.

When we sit together in one place, we each have different thoughts. But when we begin to sing, there is one thought and one rhythm in our minds. All minds become one. This unity creates a deep energy that revitalizes us.

Yoga of Sound

Singing allows all other senses to dissolve into one and enables the mind to sink into itself. Singing can be considered the yoga of sound.

Singing in Sanskrit, in particular, has a very profound impact on consciousness.

Every letter of Sanskrit carries a sound that corresponds to a specific subtle energy center (chakra) in our subtle bodies. Singing in Sanskrit activates these subtle energy centers, producing a calming, purifying, and energizing effect.

OM – The Universal Sound

OM is the eternal sacred sound. It is the sound form of universal consciousness.

Songs from various religions and cultures expand our mental boundaries. They help us accept and transcend all religions, allowing us to experience universal unity.

When you sing, immerse yourself in it fully. At the end of the singing, experience the deep silence within. Dive into that silence. You will return to yourself.

Singing is effective even while performing yoga postures. Singing “Om Bhaskaray Namaha” before Surya Namaskar reduces stress and creates a suitable atmosphere for yoga practice. Listening to songs during yoga asanas calms the mind and allows joy to arise. Singing at the end of a yoga session brings deep relaxation.
