Our entire being functions thanks to a subtle life force called prana. Prana flows through our system via subtle energy channels (nadis) and energy centers (chakras). There are thousands of nadis and many chakras within us. A vast reservoir of energy lies dormant within every human being. This latent energy, stored at the base of the spine, is known as Kundalini. The amount of energy that rises from this energy center depends on the state of the other chakras and nadis. Hari Om meditation helps activate these chakras.
Hari means “the one who removes.” When a person remembers and repeats this name, all sins, karmas, and negative astrological influences are permanently eliminated. Pain and suffering are removed. Om is the primordial cosmic vibration from which the entire cosmos and all creation have emerged. The most well-known mantra is Hari Om. Its core meaning is that Hari is Om. Hari Om is a universal mantra that removes suffering. It contains within it the vibration of the cosmos. Through Hari Om meditation, prana moves from one energy center to another.
You can learn more about Hari Om meditation in The Art of Meditation course or by joining The Happiness Program.
There are seven main energy centers or chakras along the spine. Prana moves upward in the body through these chakras. Each chakra has both a positive and a negative expression. For example, the Muladhara Chakra, the energy center at the base of the spine, can manifest as inertia or enthusiasm. To understand more about these chakras and learn the Hari Om meditation, consider attending an advanced meditation course, Art of Living Part 2, or a Sri Sri Yoga course. Hari Om meditation guided by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is also available on CDs and tapes.
