The first message for spiritual seekers on Guru Purnima day is about Hamsa, the legendary swan that separates milk from water.
Guru is Paramahamsa [supreme swan]. In the presence of a Guru, you can see what is permanent, what is impermanent, and what is a true joy. That distinction starts happening in the presence of a Guru.
The intellect will begin to recognize that things are momentary and that discrimination, wisdom, is Hamsa. You are happy coming close to that which is permanent, that which is not changing. What is the way to get into Hamsa? Sudarshan Kriya.
Sudarshan Kriya is, I am this, too. This and that are not separate. Guru is the one who brings you to this realization. First is the distinction between real and unreal, and the second step is analysis. The intellect analyzes and then realizes, “This is all me!”. If you say, “I am not this,” you go within, and when you go within, then you see the whole world as a reflection of consciousness.
Those who are sitting near the fan can feel the air. In the same way, those who are in the presence of the Guru can feel the divinity. When all three appear, then Samadhi happens. If you keep the Guru separate from you, then this experience will not happen. I and you are one. When does that happen? Only when there is Love! When there is love, then you are a part of me.
*This, then you, then I.*
In the state of ignorance, the I is with this. You are merged into your business, and the business is you. Anything you have achieved becomes you. This is the case of identifying with an event or the body too much. In this country, the identity is more with the body. Your spirit is real; your gender [your body] is unreal. Hamsa says this is not different. I and this merges.
Guru is different from others
[There are three malas people experience.]
1. Anva mala - a sense of lack from many lifetimes.
2. Karmic mala - likes and dislikes, cravings and aversions, merits and demerits that people hold on to.
3. Myka mala - maya [illusion], identification with qualities, ex- I am miserable. I am talented. I am unhappy. These are attachments to maya.
These three things are not in Guru; these three things are in Jiva, [a soul]. When Jiva comes in contact with Guru, these three malas start vanishing slowly. Then, the energy changes. A high spirit of enthusiasm and anger or sadness have the same energy (in one, we hold, and in the other, we let go). A Guru has independent energy, an ignorant person has maya energy, but both are the same.
Like the prisoner, the jailer is also in jail. But the jailer can come and go anytime and has freedom.
When you are connected to Guru, you’re in knowledge. For example, when your father is rich, you don’t feel poor. Similarly, when you’re connected to something big, you cannot feel small or lack anything.
So when you come to the Guru, these malas disappear, and you realize you are bliss and that everyone is such bliss and ecstasy.
How the mind makes injustice into a barrier

If you think injustice has happened to you, you can never be at peace. If you believe in God, you cannot believe in justice or injustice. God is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient. Then how can you say I received injustice? When you say injustice has happened, then you do not believe in the omnipresence. Injustice keeps you small; justice and injustice are concepts in mind that keep you in a shell; this drags you to myka mala.
You can fight injustice but not with anguish in the mind. In your heart, you must be laughing and smiling. This is all part of the fun. Injustice must not make you sad. This is very delicate - this is how you manage your inner faculty. Your consciousness is so powerful. Just put an intention, and you will see things start happening.
So when the presence is with you 24/7, then how can [God] cause injustice to you? This is part of that; this is karma. And this is all a play; this is for your inner understanding. Lord Krishna said the same thing to Arjuna: he said drop that I am doing something wrong and something right; just fight!!
If you fight without this concern that you’re affecting, you can just become an instrument. It’s amazing how you can take action without becoming an actor. This knowledge is very fine and delicate.
