Education For Underpreviliged

” Every parent would like to have a child whose personality shines wherever the child goes. It is the personality that is appreciated everywhere. Such pleasing personality is what is the main aim of this education.“

Revolutionizing Education: The Free School Education Program

The vision of creating a divine society begins with strengthening education at the grassroots. True education is one that includes not just academics but also an environment in which a child's inner talents blossom to their fullest potential. Art of Living schools are dedicated to provide holistic education that is aimed at all-round development of children. The methodology promotes cognitive, physical, emotional, social and spiritual growth. Activities undertaken by volunteers range from creating awareness, ensuring free uniforms, mid-day meals, books, and transportation to building free schools in remote areas.

Impact of the Program:

  • 117 free schools have been set up in tribal, rural and slum regions in India
  • More than 12,000 children have benefitted from the program
  • Value based education in a stress free environment
  • Enabling students to develop academic as well as creative skills.

Vision

Around 68 percent of India's population is considered rural and 8 percent is classified as tribal. Of the total population 28 percent is under the age of 15. Given the challenges of promoting education in rural areas it is estimated that 60 million children or more are without access to early childhood education. Against this backdrop the Art of Living's Dharma Sthamba Yojana (DSY) aims to extend the free school education program to more and more children in tribal, rural and slum areas.
