Indian diaspora recognized Gurudev’s efforts in promoting Indian cultures and values among youth

Sri Sri conferred the Bharat Gaurav Award

Bengaluru: The Art of Living Founder, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was accorded the Bharat Gaurav Lifetime Achievement Award at the UN Headquarters in New York on June 9th, 2017. He was conferred the award for his unique contributions in promoting the ethos of Indian culture among youth, connecting them to spirituality, weaning them away from substance abuse and violence all over the world.

Some of the former recipients of this award have been Pepsi CEO, Indira Nooyi, brave flight attendant Late Neerja Bhanot, and veteran actor Manoj Kumar. This year, other distinguished personalities to receive this award were film director Madhur Bhandarkar, founder of Sulabh Shauchalay, Bindeshwar Pathak, TV Asia chief, H. R Shah, late astronaut Kalpana Chawla, among 26 other distinguished individuals.

The award has been instituted by the Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha, a Jaipur-headquartered NGO with a wide international presence. The Bharat Gaurav Award felicitates individuals ‘who have achieved a landmark in their profession and made India proud.’
