US National Police Foundation to learn Gandhian ways of 'Ahimsa' in India

Two-day summit to brainstorm solutions to violence and extremism features masterclass by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Bengaluru: Marking Mahatma Gandhi's 149th birth anniversary, the World Summit on Countering Violence will see global thinkers, policymakers, law enforcement officials, activists, lawmakers, and scholars come together to brainstorm solutions to modern day conflicts through Gandhian principles of non-violence. Putting India on the global map as a hub for Peace Tourism, the conference will see a delegation of police chiefs, professors, researchers and policymakers from the US travel to India and immerse themselves in local Indian culture and participate in workshops to understand the wisdom behind ‘Ahimsa.’

The delegation from the United States will tour Mumbai, learn practical tools from Indian spirituality like meditation and Sudarshan Kriya, and attend a 2-day summit at The Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru from 1st-2nd October. The conference is all set to play host to the likes of Dr. Frank Straub, and Dean Esserman from the National Police Foundation, Dr. Makarand Paranjape, Director, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Dr. Smith Joseph, Mayor of North Miami, Charles Allen, Institute for Economics and Peace, and other lawmakers, peacekeepers, researchers and thought leaders.

The forum’s interesting line-up of sessions features discussions on topics such as ‘Making Peace Profitable,’ ‘Foundations of Peace and Non-Violence in India’s culture,’ and ‘Creating Positive Peace Frameworks.’ It also includes a masterclass in non-violence with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of The Art of Living and International Association for Human Values, known for his role in brokering the historic peace deal between FARC and the Colombian Government.
