Ganesha Stotram: Why do we chant Ganesha Stotram?

Why did Rishis chant Ganesh Stotram?

In ancient times, the wise rishis or seers chanted incantation in the praise the Gods and Goddesses. These incantations, called Stotras when chanted accurately with perfectly modulated intonations helped in manifesting the positive vibrations of the universe.

Why do we chant Ganesh Stotram?

The Ganesa sthavam or the stotram is chanted on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi in the praise of the Lord Ganesha. The chant or the stotram celebrates the essences of Ganesha, the formless deity worshipped in a magnificent form of the elephant-headed God, symbolizing the divine qualities, for the benefit of the devotees.

The Ganesha stotram begins with 'Ajam Nirvikalpam Niraakaaramekam,' where Lord Ganesha is described as Ajam (unborn), Nirvikalpa (attributeless), Niraakaar (formless) as he symbolizes the absolute consciousness that pervades all and brings order in this universe. When sang on the auspicious eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, the stotram helps the devotee to cut through any layer of ignorance, leading to the ultimate knowledge as Lord Ganesha is the embodiment of source, course, and goal of knowledge.

The Ganesh Stotram, when chanted, magnifies Lord Ganesha's blessings on all his devotees. Lord Ganesha encapsulates the same energy which is the reason behind this universe, the same energy from which everything manifests and into which everything will dissolve.
