The Guru and the FARC - A film about peace in the times of conflict

India
July 19, 2016

Bangalore: In June, the Colombian Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) signed a historic peace pact that ended a 52-year-old armed conflict that has cost over 220,000 lives and displaced more than 5 million people.

Today, in a world torn by strife, inter-racial or communal violence and total breakdown of communication, be it in Kashmir or the US or France, what happened in Colombia in June 2016, is a historic anomaly. Does India's spiritual prowess have an answer to the ongoing conflicts in the world?

As India celebrates the ancient tradition of Guru Purnima today, honoring the lineage of masters and seers, who have gifted the knowledge of peace and spirituality to the world, ‘The Guru and the FARC’ is a powerful documentary film made by Argentinian filmmaker, Paula Schargorodsky, that talks about Colombia's Indian connection.

It discusses the crucial role played by Indian Spiritual Guru and humanitarian leader, Founder of The Art of Living, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the peace process that ended one of the bloodiest conflicts in the region.
