Picture yourself this Guru Purnima!
A bright full moon in a clear night sky casts its golden-hued light on the ashram lake and its banks. People in colorful festive clothes singing and dancing, with glowing face revealing the bliss and love in their hearts. The atmosphere is charged with music so enchanting, it seems to attract celestial nymphs and angels to join the celebration of gratitude. Just entering this seemingly heavenly abode, all your worries, stress, and pain dissolve, and your heart wells up with joy and love. Cheerfully, you join the others dancing on the floor, and with every step, the past and future disappear, and you behold the present moment that fills up your very existence.
On July 22, 2013, join us on this very special occasion at the Art of Living Ashram at Qubec, Canada.
A chance to appreciate, thank and feel grateful
The purpose of the Guru Purnima celebration is to turn back and review and see in this last one year how much one has progressed in life. For a seeker, Guru Purnima is a day of significance. It is the day to review one's progress on the spiritual path and renew one's determination and focus on the goal. As the full moon rises and sets, tears of gratitude arise and repose into the vastness of one's own self. Let us together express our sincere gratitude for the Guru, who gives everything and expects nothing.
On this special day, you stand with every cell of your being in gratitude, and eyes filled with tears of joy, celebrating the moment. Let us fill the whole world with this joy in our heart today. You may express the inexpressible here today and every day.
Have you met your Guru?
The day of Guru Purnima is dedicated to the Guru - anyone who has nurtured you or gurided you on something which you treasure dearly and holds value for you in your life. In the ancient India, the day belonged to rishis and saints who held within them immense knowledge. Their disciples would pay special respects on the occasion of Guru Purnima. This culture is alive even today. Let us all come together to express our gratitude to all who have given us anything, or uplifted us in any way. They may be your friends, family, teachers and all loved ones.
A Guru’s very existence in life grants you the impossible.
For many around the world, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a guide or Guru. His breathing techniques and meditations, practical knowledge on overcoming life's challenges and service projects have infused a new understanding and joy in life. He often says Guru Purnima is a day of expressing gratitude for all that we have received in our lives and a moment of reflection.
