How to make sure that you fulfill your New Year resolution this year

Now that a year of restrained activity and more so, restrained dreams is about to get over, most of us are geared up to make 2021 our year. All of us can do that with faith in our dreams and abilities, some planning, and a bit of ancient wisdom. Begin your journey with New Year resolutions that translate to reality. We have a step-by-step strategy that can help. Read on.

Turn your resolutions into sankalpas

Sankalpa is a Sanskrit term that refers to powerful intentions. A spiritual humorist would say, regular people make resolutions while legends take sankalpas. The intensity of a Sankalpa gives it way more shelf life than a resolution because while resolutions are born in the head, sankalpas are born in the heart. And there is a way you can transform your regular resolutions into sankalpas.

  • Resolve just after meditating. Sankalpas are intentions that arise from a one-pointed and peaceful mind and meditating makes the mind just that.
  • If you don’t know how to meditate, follow a guided meditation by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
  • You can also meditate on a chant from an assorted list. These ancient chants bring immense peace and strength to the mind, making fertile ground for our sankalpas to soar.
  • This is the final step of turning your resolution into a Sankalpa. Offer your intention to the universe. In simpler words, let it go and allow the universe to bring you all that is needed to lead the sankalpa to fruition.

Time to get to work

Now that you’ve tasked the universe to work on your sankalpa, it is time for you to get to work to bring it to life. Mostly because the universe does not really help lazy ones and since you are reading this article, we know that you don’t intend to be one either.

The perfect plan is flexible

While you devise the perfect plan, keep room for flexibility and spontaneity. There are going to be instances when the situations around you don’t let you stick to your plan which is okay. Keep calm and pick an alternative instead. As you progress through your plan, you may not see everything working for you. In that case, be open to trying different routes to get to your goal.

Attend to your mind with daily meditations

No one has finished the race with a sad face. Working with a fresh, happy, and focused mind is likely to get you success. Meditating regularly helps to keep the mind exactly that - a congenial internal atmosphere for success. It also enhances our intuitive abilities that further help when seeking course corrections in our plans.

Raise the positivity

Yes, positivity can be raised. When you are high on positivity, you can find the strength, energy, and conviction required to reach your goals. What can help to increase positivity?

  • Taking care of our diet: eat more wholesome and fresh foods. Also stick to a routine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Listen to chants: Their powerful effect immediately dissolves all negativity from the mind.
  • Praise instead of criticize: Take every opportunity to praise and refrain from entering the loop of negative gossip and criticism. Do give constructive feedback. Just the act of praising brings an energy shift.
  • Read knowledge: Whenever your mind gets stuck in negativity and starts draining you, read or listen to some knowledge.
  • Practice yoga and meditation: These practices keep the mind and body healthy, which has an immediate impact on how you feel.

Trust time

After all the effort, you will get what you’re looking for only in due course of time. So don’t run out of patience. Keep the faith and keep yourself rolling. Good things happen to those who believe in themselves!
