Rakshabhandan | Rakhi

Raksha Bandhan is a much-celebrated festival in India between brothers and sisters. While the sacred thread tied on the wrist of the brother symbolizes the oath he takes to protect his sister, it also reflects the purity of thoughts, actions, and divinity. Raksha Bandhan reflects on a union of trust and love and has a legendary history behind it. It is said that Lord Yama, the God of death imparted immortality to Yamuna who tied him a rakhi. He also stated that any brother who protects his sister would become immortal. Women also tie Rakhi to their husbands to protect them from evil.
